Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Group

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure are included.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will split off from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team includes Teor (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

With an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

First, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

Casimir then paid off his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires revenge.
  • The adventurer has experience in the region and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could enable the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the family.

This results in them little choice but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.

Future Episodes

Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Questers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can look forward to discovering which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
